Unique blogger award

the-unique-blogger-award-wander-summerIt’s been a while since I’ve accepted a blogging award. I’ve been nominated by the lovely Lacy for the Unique Blogger Award. I’ve never been nominated for this one before, so thank you very much, I really appreciate it (if you’ve nominated me for an award and I don’t accept, I’m very grateful for your nomination, but I’ve likely received it in the past).

The rules:
*Share the link of the blogger who has nominated you
*Answer their questions
*Nominate 8-13 people
*Ask them three questions

Their questions:
1. What is your goal in blogging? Who do you hope to reach?
I started this blog with the desire to connect with like-minded individuals and to share the struggles that many introverts experience on a daily basis. As such, I don’t necessarily have a defined goal, but if my writings can help someone who’s struggling, then I’m happy to share my own thoughts and experiences.

2. What is your favorite past time outside of blogging? What defines you?
I love working out, going for walks, taking dance lessons (a new addition to my schedule), meal planning, and cooking. Pursuing a healthy and active lifestyle is something that is very important to me.

3. Share with us your favorite inspirational quote.
I have so many favorites, but one I recently connected with is below.

The one who falls and gets up is stronger than the one who never tried.
Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying.
-Roy Bennett

My nominations (in no particular order):
*  Like Her Type
* Bare Necessity
* INFJoe Cartoons
* Peace With My Life
* Authentically Aurora
* INFJ Ramblings
* Warrior Freya
* Found in France

My questions:
1. If you could give any piece of advice to your younger self, what would it be?
2. How would you describe yourself in three words and why?
3. What motivates you to improve (in blogging, life, etc)?

As always, please don’t feel obligated to accept this award if you’d rather not. This is just a small way I can share my appreciation of what you choose to share with the world.

Hope you have a great week!

Sunshine Blogger Award

Sunshine award

I was recently nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I wanted to thank both Joanna Lynn and Aurora so much for this nomination. This award is a way of recognizing bloggers who are positive and creatively inspire others. There are several ‘rules’ associated with this award.

1. Thank the person who nominated you.
2. Answer their 10 questions.
3. Nominate 10 other bloggers.
4. Write 10 questions for them to answer.
5. Notify those you nominated.

As I’ve been nominated by two people, I’ve chosen 5 questions from each to answer:

1. What do you feel most proud of?
The fact that I’m living a healthy, active lifestyle that includes homemade meals and regular workouts. While it hasn’t been easy, its helped improve my physical and mental health. Its also given me confidence which extends to all aspects of my life.

2. If you could only keep five possessions, what would they be?
My phone (and charger) so I could stay connected to my friends and family. My camera (and charger) because photography is one of my favourite hobbies. Lip balm, I’m constantly using it as the air is pretty dry where I live. Toothbrush and toothpaste, as I don’t feel ready for the day until I’ve brushed my teeth and washed my face. Teapot and tea because I love tea. Even the act of making tea can be a calming ritual.

3. What feels like love to you?
That comfortable feeling of being with someone you cherish and enjoying their company. Conversation isn’t even necessary, just sitting quietly with them is calming and comforting.

4. What makes you, you?
Hmm, I’d have to say my warm smile coupled with a dry, slightly sarcastic sense of humour. Everyone around me always comments on how I’m always smiling, but those that know me best know I can be pretty funny.

5. What feels like home to you?
For me, home is being surrounded with those I love, regardless of where I might be. But I recently visited Scotland and felt a deep attachment to the highlands. It felt like I was coming home, even though I had never been before.

6. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’ve already visited Ireland and Scotland and want to go back. But my next trip will likely be to Japan (and South Korea if I can squeeze it in). I’ve always loved Japanese culture and can’t wait to explore all the beautiful forests, shrines, and temples.

7. Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you’ll know the answer to this one 🙂 I’m definitely an introvert and proud of it! Being introverted comes with so many amazing benefits and strengths.

8. Do you usually follow your heart or your head?
I’m incredibly analytical and will usually follow my head. But at the same time, I try to take into consideration how my actions will affect others.

9. Is what you’re doing now what you always wanted to do growing up?
I’ve never specifically wanted to get involved in a certain career growing up. But at the same time, I’ve always been creative and loved art. So getting to do graphic design work is along those same lines.

10. What’s your favorite food ever?
If I had to pick one item, it would have to be dark chocolate. Its one of my indulgences and is actually kind of good for you, in moderation.

Finally, I’ve listed 10 other bloggers that really inspire me and bring sunshine into my life. So feel free to check them out!

  1. INFJ Ramblings
  2. Quiet in a World of Chaos
  3. Von Hier an Blind
  4. Mrs. Spike
  5. Peace with my life
  6. Twainwall
  7.  INTP Mom
  8. Scrubs and Stuff
  9. KattieKate
  10. INFJ Reflections

I really enjoyed answering the 10 questions above, so if you would like to accept this award, those are the ones you can answer too. As always, please don’t feel pressured to accept this award if you’d rather not. This is simply one way I can share my appreciation for what you share with the blogging world 🙂

Starlight Blogger Award

Starlight Blogger AwardI want to thank the lovely Authentically Aurora for nominating me for the Starlight Blogger Award. This award is created to “celebrate the creative bloggers who have truly inspired others through their beautiful and original content, imagery, art, abilities, and wonderful personalities.” If I hadn’t already been nominated by Aurora, I would have added her to my list as well. As with most awards, there are a few rules:

-Thank the person who nominated you.
-Answer three questions.
-Nominate 6 other people.

Here are my answers to Aurora’s questions:

What is your favourite holiday tradition and why?
Growing up, we were never really big into holiday traditions. But spending time with my family has always been extremely important to me. I don’t live in the same city as my immediate family, so I really do appreciate the face to face time I get to spend with them.

What is the most difficult topic that you write about and why?
Writing about my weaknesses and vulnerabilities is probably the hardest thing for me. Its a very private part of myself and I have a hard time talking about my personal struggles. Its taken me a long time to come to the point where I’m comfortable being me. My only hope is that others can learn from my experiences and won’t have to go through such a hard time themselves.

What is the reason you write?
The main reason I write is to create. To bring something into being that didn’t exist before. Putting my feelings and emotions into words also helps me understand how I’m feeling. Writing things out makes them more understandable, and I can see things from a more analytical perspective, rather than just an emotional one.

I’d like to nominate the following people:

1. Butterfly Reflections
2. Warrior Freya
. desk nest shelf
4. Scrubs and Stuff
5. Semper Fidelis
6. Kattie Kate

Nominees, your questions to answer are:

1. What is one social issue that you’re really interested in or passionate about?
2. If you could have one wish granted, what would you wish for?
3. What is one thing you really appreciate in other people?

As always, please don’t feel obligated to accept this award if you don’t feel comfortable doing so. I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you share with the world. And if you’d rather just answer the questions in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!

The Respect Award

respectI recently received a nomination for the Respect Award from the wonderful Warrior Freya. I know my response is quite late, but I really do appreciate the nomination. It means so much to me that others enjoy what I write. If I hadn’t already been nominated by Warrior Freya, she would have been on my list too 😉

According to the write-up, this award is given to bloggers who:

“Consistently reach out to other bloggers, offer support, are understanding of the differences in people, and who treat themselves and others with kindness and respect.”

There don’t appear to be any rules, so I’ll go ahead and list a few nominees. This isn’t a comprehensive list and there are many others who qualify. As always, please don’t feel obligated to accept if you aren’t comfortable doing so. I merely think that awards like these are a great way of showing recognition for all the support, empathy, and kindness shown by those in the blogging world. My nominees are below:

Blogger Recognition Award

bloggerrecognitionawardThank you once again to Warrior Freya for this nomination. Its so encouraging to know that others enjoy what I write. I really appreciate it and it motivates me to keep on writing. If I hadn’t been nominated by Warrior Freya, I would have nominated her as well 😉

The Rules:

Post an image of the award
Thank your nominator
Nominate 15 blogs
Comment on the blogs so they know of their nomination
Write a brief description about your blog
Write 1-2 pieces of advice for a new blogger
Provide a link to the original BRA post

A brief description of my blog:

A twenty-something blogger shares her experiences of being introverted and highly sensitive and the things she’s learned along the way.

I initially started blogging so I could connect with others who were also introverted and highly sensitive. To express myself creatively and in an accepting environment. To gain catharsis by writing about things that frustrated me. To try to make sense of what is going on in my world. I wanted to write about the things that I’ve learned and record it somewhere other than in my memory.

Advice for a new blogger:

1. Write about something you love or are passionate about. Your passion and emotion about the subject will inspire you to create and share interesting posts. Or if you want to use your blog to record things that happen in your life, that’s awesome too.

2. Get involved in the community. The people I have met online through blogging are amazing. This community is incredible and being able to connect with people is probably the only reason I’m still blogging right now. Best ways to get involved are to read blogs, comment on other blogs, and reply to comments on your own blog 🙂

Some lovely blogs I’ve nominated:

Authentically Aurora
Scrubs and Stuff
Ben’s Bitter Blog
INFJ Ramblings
The Mad Plant
New York Insomniac
desk nest shelf
the hidden voice
Creating your life journey
Peace With My Life
Silently Outspoken
Poetry, photos and musings oh my!

As always, please don’t feel obligated to accept  if you don’t want to. Just know how much I enjoy and appreciate your posts 🙂

Dragon’s Loyalty Award

Dragons loyalty awardI wanted to give a huge thank you to Warrior Freya for this nomination. She would have totally been on this list too, if she hadn’t nominated me 😉 I’m always so grateful and honoured when people enjoy what I write. When I started blogging, I never would have imagined that so many would connect with or relate to my own experiences. I’m so happy I’ve met and gotten to know so many amazing and inspiring people.

The Dragon’s Loyalty Award is an award given to loyal followers, commenters, or fans of your blog. The recipient can be a fellow blogger or a blog-free person who comments regularly. As always, there is a set of rules to be followed:

1. Put the logo on your post
2. Thank the blogger who nominated you
3. Share 5 facts about yourself
4. Nominate 5-10 bloggers

Here are five facts about me (this part is always the hardest haha):

1. I’ve recently become highly interested in exercise/working out. I’ve always been physically weaker than most. So becoming stronger and pushing myself past my limits is pretty addicting.
2. My favourite place to be is by the ocean. When I sit and watch the waves lap at the shore, I feel truly at home. I’ve never felt this way anywhere else.
3. My favourite colour is blue. But not just any blue. It has to be between turquoise and teal, a mixture of blue and a little bit of green.
4. I’ve started to become interested in minimalism, an idea where less is valued over more. I haven’t committed to that lifestyle as of yet, but its helped me to get rid of a lot of clutter.
5. I love watching Shakespeare’s plays. My favourites are Richard III, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and The Tempest. I enjoy almost all of them, but those are the top three.

And here are my nominations:

Socially Awkward Geek Girl is Happy
Hello the world!
The Way I See it
Butterfly Reflections

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend 🙂

Helping Hand Blogger Award

Helping Hand Blogger AwardI was recently nominated by Authentically Aurora for an award I had never heard of before. The Helping Hand Blogger Award recognizes bloggers who take the extra time to share kind and insightful comments with other bloggers.

I think this award is a lovely idea and I’d like to nominate a few bloggers who have been so encouraging and kind when I’ve needed it the most. They always help me see things from a different perspective and knowing that they’re listening helps so much. I really appreciate it. If I hadn’t already been nominated by Aurora, I would have nominated her too 😉

Here are my nominees, in no particular order:

Warrior Freya

As always, its completely up to you if you choose to ‘accept’ the award. I don’t believe there are any rules, other than posting a response with your own nominations. But please don’t feel obligated to post a response if you’re not comfortable. I just want you to know that I really appreciate all of your support and the comments you share.
