At times, I wonder if I’m a “true” introvert — I wonder if my quiet nature stems from genuine introversion, or a desire to not hurt, or be hurt by, others. At worst, I fear my introversion is a defense mechanism.
But it’s quotes like this that remind me that there is nothing wrong with a preference for silence and quiet. I don’t know with certainty where my nature stems from, but it’s still my nature, and I should do my best with it.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I’m not really sure what a “real” introvert is haha. I know that I have aspects of extroversion but most of my nature leans towards quiet introversion. And while part of it stems from a desire to maintain peace, I’m willing to step out and defend close friends and family if needed. So it’s a bit contradictory haha, but human beings are pretty complex 🙂
